Week Commencing: Sat 14/03/2026
The Last of 8
First up this week we have Ben Rix who was in the ever popular Turtle’s Corner. Ben started the week fishing 23 wraps towards the dot island with 2 rods then had his 3rd closer to the margin at 21. Ben was soon off the mark getting 3 upper 20’s in the first 24 hours but got amongst the bigger fish straight after dinner on Sunday where he landed ‘The Archer’ at 51lb 8oz and a new PB, coming from his dot island spot. The bites kept coming steadily from there, come Monday afternoon he had 3 fish including ‘Afterbite’ at 32lb ‘Moana’ at 30 and ‘Colin Robinson’ at 22lb. Come Tuesday it was time for Ben’s second PB of the week ‘The Jewel’ at 57lb 8oz followed with ‘Norfolk Common’ at 43lb 8oz and later that morning ‘Pansexual Common’ at 32lb 8oz. Later in the week Ben managed to catch two of our unnamed fish in the lake and after the recent passing of his grandfather decided to name one after him now going by the name ‘Arth’ at 28lb, a lovely touch and one now known by ‘The Perfect Dawn’ at 35lb. Ben was fishing spinners with double slow sinking maize on a lead clip system and ending the week on 22 fish. Bait wise, Ben used a combination of boilies including Cell, Essential Cell, Manilla and Tricknut, all in chops and crumb mixed in with house pellet, corn, flaked maize and hemp. We look forward to seeing you next year mate.
Over in Tea Party 2 this week we had Lee Darby who pulled the magic ball this week. Lee started fishing 25 wraps towards the fork tree but after the fish coming from the deeper water dropped back to 22 wraps coming off the shelf. Lee went in with a good hit of bait starting with a 10l bucket bait up both from the far margin and using his spod to create a bit of noise, topping the spot up after every fish. Lee started off trying a few different hook baits but after continued success on the double slow sinking maize changed all three to match. Getting off the mark early the first night with a low 20, it started pretty slow for Lee until he made the change to go deeper and shorter he started to pick up regular bites. Wednesday was when Lee got amongst the bigger fish having ‘Ruby Murray’ at 52lb 8oz and his new PB along with a new 50 for the Road Lake. On Thursday just at last light Lee had ‘Ron’s Common’ at 42lb 8oz and ended his trip on 18 fish from 20 bites. Lee was using Mainline Cell, house hemp, maize and flake, Lee fished 3 spinners over the top on the ever faithful slow sinking maize. See you next year Lee.
Last up this week we have Jason Shroder who came out last in the draw and got himself in Shingles. Starting off fishing 2 rods out towards the dot island at 21 wraps and one to the right of Tea Party 1 at 16 wraps, going in with a mixture of house particle and Mainline nut boilie. It started slow for Jason until he had 2 bites in quick succession on Monday afternoon where he had ‘Cornish’ at 39lb 12oz and ‘Little John’ at 31lb. Unfortunately that was it for Jason this week, we’ll see you next time.
Tight Lines,
Greg,
