Week Commencing: Sat 30/09/2023

PB’S AND BEAR PROOF COOLERS.

Well I can honestly say winter is closing in really fast, temperatures plummeting to as low as 4 degrees of a night time and thick fog hanging over the lake to late morning certainly knocked the fish off feeding this week.

We are kicking off the week with happy chap Dale Obrien fishing in the famous ‘Beach’ this week, fishing straight towards showing fish at the bund choosing to fish a range that suits him no matter what weather condition came his way at 21 wraps. Dale set off with one zig out at 12ft with yellow foam whilst he was setting his camp up for the week, as the night time drawn in he went down to the deck with all 3 rods where he managed to land his new beast of a PB ‘Boilie Head’ 48lb. feeding on the hour every day Dale ended up on 8 fish for this week with another known resident ‘Gelato’ 42lb all falling to size 4 wide gape spinners with yellow 12mm pop upsMainline linkand plenty of mix particle witch we supply here on site.

The crazy German Mawill Ludenbach made his 2ndtrip to the year to the big G, having been on the road lake just a few week previous and landing some incredible carp on his august trip he took off from where he finished. I would say after picking ball 11 some luck was on his side when ‘Shingles’ was still available, a very slow few days before he manged to land arguable the best looking fish in the road lake ‘Fully Loaded’ a new top weight 51lb 14oz!! feeding everyday just before evening meal with a mix containing Mainline link and plenty of house maizewith a good glugging off fish smart liquid. Shingles is night swim so resting it throughout the day is really good advice for you guys coming out in the future. Mawill ended his week with another fish called ‘Galaxy’ at 38lb fishing dead centre off the dot island at 18 wraps, he used size 4 spinners once again with a snow man using a Korda IB yellow SSM topper.

It was John Nicholls 1st time at Gigantica and sharing this experience with his 2 sons Elliot and josh it was sure going to be a week filled with memories. Just the 2 fish for john this week but with one off them being king of pond ‘Ron’s’ at a massive 66lb 4oz and what a carp that is. Korda ‘Basix’ hair rigs size 4 with a Mainline link out the bag boilie it just goes to show you really don’t have to over complicate it. John chose the Poo for simple and easy range fishing at just a small distance off 14 wraps smack in front of him, our house particles we cook here on site doing the doo week in week out.

So it was Elliot’s farewell trip as he leaves for his new life in Australia in the next couple of weeks so what a way to spend a week at G with his father and little brother josh. 21 wraps straight out of Turtles cornertowards the dot island with all 3 rods it was a few blank days before finally being rewarded with ‘Wilson’ at 42lb and a new 40lb for the road lake and not forget another PB. A good spread off boilie and maize in a wide area, off course another spinner rig doing the damage and continuously slipping these Gigantica carp up using Korda IB SSM. Just the one fish this week for Elliot and was a pleasure hosting you this week mate and best of luck with your new adventure in Australia.

Regular Harry Hogan joined us on the Road lake for the 1st time since way back to 2017, after fishing the main like quite a lot he couldn’t turn down a last minute space to jump on the road lake. 18 wraps towards Billy’s is the spot that’s been doing the bites the past month and with all the fish caught from this swim in previous weeks they have all been night bites so vital information is to wind in late morning and leave it to rest throughout the day. A good mix off cc more Tunaand plenty of our hemp/maize cooked fresh every morning by the bailiff team, slip d snow mans over the top with Korda IB SSM toppers. Harry chose to bait every day before dinner service before then getting the rods straight out at 5.30pm, 5 fish for the week for harry despite giving it his best efforts unfortunately he didn’t get through to any of our big residents.

Well it was a last knockings carp for Alex Skeva in Decoy. After getting on fish the opening night and sadly loosing 3 bites he kept grinding away all week keeping consistent with the bait and more importantly kept the faith, so finally he was rewarded with his 1st Gigantica carp on the final morning at 1st light coming from the bar at 18 wraps out in front. A 30lb commonto end his week slipped up over a mix of house maizeand Mainline link in 15mm using spinner rigs with Korda IB SSM.

Finally I’m going to finish off the week Johan, fished in Billy’s 22 wraps straight at the far back to a gap in the big trees where he landed 4 fish for the weeks angling. Combi rigs with link wafters over a mix of mainline linkin 15mm and also a flickering off 10mm with a good 50% off the mix containing house maize.

A great week on the road lake with a top bunch off lads, the cold nights are coming in and the fish a loving maize and hemp at the minute so consider putting them in your mixes throughout the week, look forward to seeing you all again it was a pleasure.
