Another new 60lb!!

This week we welcomed Andy Lewis on his lake exclusive with 9 others for his 50th birthday bash, bringing along some new faces with him they was raring for the week ahead… still being faced with all seasons of weather but mainly clearing up midweek let’s see how the week played out.

Off course I’m kicking off the week with Andy himself fishing from the Beach a swim that’s been very kind to him in the past throwing many big fish his way, he fished it last summer and after a 49 fish hit in 2022 he certainly took off from where he finished using a 12ft zig and spodding little and often over the top he did rack up an impressive amount of carp 33 being the exact number. A fish known as ‘Fosters’ at 61lb 8oz was the biggest fish of the week and that’s a new 60lb fish to add for the road lake, following on he caught ‘Decoy’ 52lb 1oz 4 x 40lbers ‘Lellow’ 43lb 6oz ‘Swalleys’ 45lb 8oz ‘Grant Mitchell’ 44lb 8oz and ‘Huckleberry’ 44lb 8oz, and then he had multiple 20s and 30s to add to his catch sheet. Andy fishing his usual go to here on the road lake DNA S7 & SLK chops and wholes and mixing it with maize and plenty of liquids to boost the attraction, all fish was caught from the 21 wraps to the tits with 17 fish coming from his 12ft zig with yellow foam and the 16 coming from the deck using simple combi rig snowman style.

I had the pleasure of meeting a new face Mr Tall RobRees This week and despite coming  out late on in the draw that didn’t hold him back one bit, Brambles was the swim of choice and he got straight to work with his marker rod and it didn’t take him long to find a slightly raised gravel bar at 21 wraps out in front in slightly shallower water and it was just perfect for 2 rods fishing his 3rd rod slightly left of the spot in deeper water. Within a couple of hours rob manged to put 10 fish in the net with 2 double takes and I had to get in on the action with him was total carnage!!  Simple spinner rig with krill pop ups fishing krill boilies and housemaize in his mix he certainly had them going, as the days had past he manged 17 fish out of brambles with the better ones being ‘Joes common’ 36lb ‘Lesters’42lb ‘Pac-Man’ 45lb 8oz  ‘Crackers’ 43lb 2oz ‘Errol’47lb 6oz and his new PB the awesome ‘Two Tone’ at 60lb. unfortunately one of the lads had to leave us early this week and with plenty of fish showing in his swim Tea Party 1 rob didn’t hesitate into moving on to showing fish and just like Saturday straight to work getting the rigs out with little and often spombing over the top he manged to catch a further 13 fish from this swim making it a total of 30 fish for the week!!! From Tea Party 1 he landed ‘Poppy’ 45lb 2oz ‘ScottiesCommon’ 41lb 4oz and would you believe it he had a re capture ‘Two Tone’ again 2 days later after catching it the 1st time earlier on in the week. Sticky Krill boilies an house maize with plenty of liquids this week for rob fishing spinners with match the hatch hook baits, great weeks angling mate well done.

I managed to sneak a few nights in this week in Bachiliers before heading home for my time off, yet again in front of me there was not much to go off but I did find a new spot at 24 wraps leaving the favoured 28.5 wrap spot alone and after 3 nights it finally paid off and I had a scrapper 30lber for my efforts. IQ-D rigsas usual with a single grain of SSM for the hook bait feeding house mix particle over the top.

Another tricky week on the road lake but it’s only going to be a matter of time before we are b ack to 80+ fish a week, great group of guys this week it was a pleasure.

But for now,

All the best

Joe.
