Bailiff Comments

Week Commencing: Sat 15/07/2023

IT ALL CAME GOOD IN THE END!!

It was my turn to bailiff the road lake this week and coming of the back of a slow week it didn’t get the lads down in anyway and  they was fired up to take on the week ahead. Slow start to the week but big fish Thursday did not let us down!

Firstly lets kick of the week with George Hugget, coming out mid-way in the draw and his old man picking the beach early on it was only right that he set his stall out next door in Dunkirk. Straight to work 19 wraps out towards the boulders right of the dot island with 2 rods fishing spinners on yellow pop ups feeding link boilies and house maize he kept working this spot all week but it just wasn’t meant to be,  but his 9 wrapsspot left out the swim towards decoy was his banker spot fishing solid bags with a scattering of link boilies produced him his new PB and smashing his previous one by 30lb in the name of ‘Diamond Geezer’ at a massive 56lb 12oz putting on 10lb since its last capture in 2021, just one more bite for George to round out his week at 27lb common.

Stephen wait went for Tea Party 2 this week fishing the usual spots 21 wraps to the far margin it was a slow start to the week but after a few days he adapted his approach and moved slightly left another few wraps an started to get in to a few fish, feeding link boilies and house particle regular throughout the day it was late evening Wednesday  when the fish shown up on him and he started to get the bites. ‘Pac-Man’ made a visit at 45lb 6oz followed up by his new PB ‘Nailed’ at 53lb 7oz and a few smaller ones to 27lb to finish his week of, the usual D-rigs with SSM doing bites as per usual.

Adam Graham was lucky enough to find himself in Turtles Corner and with the wind hacking straight in there it was certainly looking smack on for a bite, he came over to me Sunday afternoon for some advice and after spending half an hour in the swim with Adam he was soon smashing that clip and getting them spombs out accurate on the spot at 21 wraps to the dot island, with the fish still holding up down at the bund it was soon big fish Thursday as we like to say and it definitely shown up in turtles because he was rewarded we with his 1st Gigantica carp ‘Broken Tail’at 50lb 2oz what a result. Adam had to leave us early Friday so it was just the one fish for him this week but what a good effort in tough weather conditions and most important never gave up, fished with snowman’s with a maize topper an plenty of link and cell boilies over the top and maize in there also all glugged up with smart liquid.

Well it was a strange start to the week for Jordan Brown in Decoy with a lot of fish stacked at the bund they was certainly playing hard to get at so a frustrating few days passed before his margin spot started to get going on the usual 16 wraps down at the bund, fishing smart with a couple of scoops of mix particle an link boilies after each bite it was the key to getting quick bites instead of the normal approach people going for and that’s ‘filling it in’. 7 fish landed and a few lost it was ‘Ruby Murray’ at 45lb 12oz being pick of the bunch and also a new PB for Jordan all falling to link bottom baits on a combi rig.

Ashley Eady was in Brambles this week and with the swim being in great form for throwing up a good one it was interesting to see how it wasn’t going to play out, 18wraps out to the far margin 3 rods trammed lined on the spot Tuesday night he gives me a call with ‘Scorchio’ at 42lb sulking in his sling. A few stockies later the week was drawn to an end… spinner rigs and house particles fished all week.

Last but not least all round nice guy Collin Huggetwas in the beach fishing out to the famous 21wrapsspot the fish just didn’t seem up for it this week and was just cruising round in the upper layers not showing any signs of wanting to feed but he did manage to pick of a few carp throughout the week but unfortunately didn’t get amongst the big ones so a 35lb common was his biggest for the week. Same approach as his son George link boilies and house particles used all week.

Challenging week once again over on the road with fish just holding up in certain areas and not looking like they want to get their heads down, and I would just like to add for any anglers coming out in upcoming weeks if you are unsure of anything angling related the bailiff team here at Gigantica will do absolutely anything to help and pass on as much knowledge as we can to help use succeed in any way so please don’t be frightened to ask.

But for now

all the best,

Joe.
