Week Commencing: Sat 01/07/2023

Taken a step back.

The previous week was step forward on the road lake with plenty of fish coming out around the lake and some real gems at that, but this week it was lake it came to a holt and started of really slow and didn’t really pick up at all.

Joe bailey had a good draw and made his into Tea party 2 and with Tea party 1 still being available his brother Tom manage to slip alongside him for a social week. Thinking outside the box and doing something totally opposite to most anglers Joe went with feeding our House pellet only in 15mm 10 Wraps out to the left of the Dot island using standard hair rigs drilling the pellets match the hatch style, he did manage to pick of a few fish throughout the week but unfortunately didn’t get into any of the big fish that the road lake has to offer so a 32lb common was the pick of the bunch.

Next up we had Liam Flynn the Norton Disney regular and his 1st trip the big G he was going in with the same approach he uses on the Norton complex, fishing from Billy’s with a lot of water to go at he went with the 19wrap spot straight out in front to a gap in the trees on the far bank as his marker. Liam was using the famous Darrel Peck multi rig snowman style with a maize topper he manged to nick himself 6 fish overall that week with 3 30s to boast about, feeding nothing different than most anglers with house particles and boilies chops an crumbs.

Off the back of an impressive trip for Tom Southall back in march this year where he landed his PB  box Mirrorhe was all guns blazing for this week, seeing plenty of fish on the walk round in the cage and the water colour so clouded up that’s where he went and in quick succession he did land an upper double common on his 1st night. A few days went by and the Goo was available he decided to go for a mid-week move so with 4 nights left to play he was clipped up to 14.5 wraps straight out in front using basic spinners with yellow pop-ups feeding only maize he manage to get a double take in the middle of the night landing both fish with the better one being 28lb, that was all for tom an the week came to an end.

Paul Webber was in Turtles corner this week and with majority of the lake stock in front of him it was looking like it was going to be a busy week for him at the 21 wraps spot in front of dot island. Despite giving it his all he did mange 7 fish spread across the week but he unfortunatly yet again didn’t get through to the bigger gems so a 29lb mirror was his best fish of the week. Using a lot more boilie in his mix compared to most people fishing D-rig snowman’s over the top was his approach.

Rod Yazdi first time out in France and was over the moon he manage to land himself in The Birches and his son an mate getting Decoy and Brambles there  was a perfect social on the cards. A couples days past before he got his 1st bite in the roadlake in the middle of the night at 18wraps towards Billy’s and it went in the net and he had a 27lb  mirror for his efforts. Pressing the repeat button the following night and fish showing all over the bar that runs through from decoy he was full of hope going into the night show, so when bite time finally came he was into something big as he described to me!! Few short moments later he had a hook…. And that was it for the week. Baiting with house particles using D-rigs with SSM all week.

I managed to slip a few nights in the Poo this week, with simple fishing out in front at 14 wraps It was just the one fish for me this week at 28lb using my IQ-Drigs as perusal with just a single grain of SSMfeeding house maize over the top.

Last up we had ‘Are you sports’ competition winners from the Big one show at Farnborough that DF and Marcus picked themselves, we had Declan  fishing from shingles they was plummed into the 18 wrapstowards the dot island. Despite giving it there maximum efforts all week they only manged the one fish and it being a 32lb  common, Plenty of house pellet to try and get them feeding on the spot using spinners with wafters it was just the one bite and the week was drawn to an end.

Not a great week on the road lake this week if I’m honest the main bulk of the lakes stock  was holding up in certain areas and with anglers not fishing the swims to their potential and not baiting effectively the fish will hold up there and simply not move out.

I think it’s important to any anglers coming out in the future to please take bailiff advise on board as we live here 24/7 and see these lakes week in week out, and most of all we want use  all to go home with PB’S.

But for now

All the best,

Joe.
