5 Bag’s!

Its been a very tough week on the Road Lake this week, with majority of the fish holding up in Beach, 2 or 3 feet under the surface it made it a hard week for most. But a few of the lads still managed to bag a few with some nice ones in the mix.

First of we have Tez, after the walk around and everyone seeing a couple hundred carp under the surface opposite Beach, we all knew where ball one was going to go and Tez was lucky enough to have it. Although there was allot of fish opposite him he still had a challenging week. Fished well, managed to land 7 in total with biggest falling on the last night and a rare one at that “The Grey” at 53lb a well-deserved carp. D- Rigs with fake maize over the top of maize and boilie got him his bites.

Matt Goold in Bachiliars came out 10th in the draw, not the best place to land at the moment but he still managed to land 5 fish the biggest being “Brocken Tail” at 50lb. Matt decided to only fish the nights which is a massive edge in that swims, he fed 25kg of DNA Bug throughout the week. Spots were 28.5 wraps to the bottom of the far margin shelf and 22.5 wraps up the left hand margin. Combi Rigs with size 4 wide gapes with wafters got him his fish.

Adrian Walsh came out 7th in the draw and to his surprise Tea Party 2was still available so he jumped at the chance! He started of fishing 21 wraps towards the catapult tree and 8 wraps towards the dot island, it took a while for Adrian to get his spots rocking but he managed a couple of P.B’s one being “Jeff’s Mirror” at 41lb 8oz and then not long after he landed “After Work” at 50lb 8oz. Adrian was feeding house Hemp and Maize with cell Boilies, approximately 20kg for the week. Size 4 spinners with two pieces of slow sinking maize over the top.

Doug Peel in Brambles managed to land one for his efforts, “. He started of fishing just boilie over his 18 wrap spot and once realised it’s a tricky week he added some maize to the mix and managed to land “Lou Lou” at 39lb 12oz. Combi Rigs with sizes 4 wide gapes with wafters got him his bite.

Last but no means least we have Ian McBride, Ian’s had a tough time at Gigantica in the past, with bad draws and weather against him at times but this being his 4th trip he finally managed to land a few. He even got to name his first one 5 Bags because that’s how much its cost him over the years to catch a Gigantica carp. Ian was fishing out of Billys 17.5 wraps to the over hanging tree and that where he managed to land 3 from. 25kg of DNA Bug and corn with size 4 Spinner fake maize over the top.

As you can gather its been a hard time but these fish have to feed at some point, lets hope its soon!

Until next time
