ALL ABOUT THE HAT!!

Yet again another slow week over on the road with the fish still holding up at the bund in big numbers making the rest of the lake hard to play.

Well, it was Gigantica regular Tom in Decoy fishing 16 wraps down to his right margin with 2 rods towards the bund, leaving his 3rd rod as the banker rod at the 18 wraps spot straight out towards the cage. Didn’t take him long before that banker rod was away and he banked his new PB after a very long time resulting in ‘ ALL ABOUT THE HAT’, first appearance of the year for the big common weighing 65lb 4oz. Tom managed to go on and pick another few fish of before having to leave a day early. Spinner rigs done the damage for him with slow sinking maize feeding mixed particle and chop boilie, Well done mate top angling.

Another Gigantica regular Neil knew where he fancied his chances for the week and that was the Beach off course. Straight into the action fishing solid bags out at the  21 wraps spot towards the 3 tits done the job for Neil getting straight amongst them landing ‘Flying Dutchman’ at 50lb 10oz ‘Miss Daisy’ at 45lb 12 oz ‘Bomber’ 44lb and ‘The Dutch’ at 37lb 5oz. Baiting consistently with mix particle over the top of the solid bags was the trick for Neil finishing out his week with 8 fish in total, all fell to slow sinking maize inside his solid bags. Well done mate see you in June.

First trip of the year for Darren Watkins picking out ball 3 and being over the moon he manged to land his self in Turtles Corner. He did not hang around Saturday night getting his rods straight on the 21 wraps spot to the Dot Island fishing his go to D-Rig with yellow wafters over a big bed of mixed particle. Sunday morning came round, and he had 3 fish in the slings ready for me to picture on the breakfast run. Tactics paid of mate landing ‘Sammy’ at 46lb ‘Lamby’ at 36lb and 2 more stockies to round out the week. All the best for next week on the main lake mate.

Main lake regular Scott Hesling fancied a go at the road lake for his first time fishing alongside his brother Jamie. Few days went by for Scott fishing in Tea party one before his first bite came resulting in a 43lb common named ‘Twinny’ fishing the 18 wraps spot towards Turtles Corner using the ever-faithful spinner rigs on Gigantic specials P-Isotonic pop ups. Scott ended the week on 5 fish with ‘Twinny’ being the biggest.

A week to never forget for Dave and his Mrs fishing from Brambles with them getting engaged in the middle of the week!! Well done Dave. That wasn’t it for Dave despite the fishing being very tough he kept patient and had a last minute move to Decoy at 7am Friday morning once Tom left site to go home. With it all to play for in 24hour Dave got straight at them fishing down the margin 16 wraps towards the bund banking 3 fish in quick success with a new PB for him being ‘Toploader’ at 48lb and then another 2 stockies before he packed up for home. He fished the week using spinner rigs with pop up maize over beds of mix particle an chopped boilie. Well-deserved PB and all the best Dave.

Despite the weather being a lot better with warmer day temperate the night soon dropped to minuses resulting in another tough week on the road.

All the best lads was a pleasure see you again

Joe.
