Week Commencing: Sat 28/05/2022

A week of two halves!

8 lads on this week and with warm weather forecast it was pretty clear that the yearly spawning time was getting very close! As we done the walk around we saw groups of fish chasing around and come Sunday they were having a good go…they don’t all go at once though and with fish still showing around the lake we were all full of anticipation!

John Allen came out ball 1 and didn’t hesitate to drop straight into Turtles Corner…fishing 3 rods at 20 wraps staggered from the dot island to the big tree he baited with his crushed-up particle mix fishing homemade pop ups on his version of the D-rig. The week started off well for John landing a 20,30 and two good 40lbers over the weekend! Flying Dutchman at 45lb 12oz and The Jewel at 47lb 8oz being the better ones! After that it went quiet for John as the fish started to spawn and went off the feed in his area of the lake!

Anthony Weightman started his week of in Cage but after seeing lots of fishing showing in Billys on Sunday morning he made a swift move onto some feeding fish. Fishing D-rigs with 2 grains of SSM spombing with hemp, pellet, maize and a few 18mm Link boilies at 18 wraps towards T2 he finished the week on 6 fish up to 43lb 12oz which means another PB was broken this week! “Leslie” at 40lb and “Riley” at 43lb 12oz were the prizes for Ant!

Paul Roscorla dropped into Brambles and fished at 18 wraps towards the sloping tree baiting with Mainline Link 18mm and house maize and fishing yellow pop ups on Spinner rigs over the top he went on to land 6 fish for the week including “The Korda Social Common” at 45lb 12oz and Twin Patch at 46lb 4oz, the latter coming on a zig! Both of these fish came at the latter stage of the week after the fish spawned for the first few days of the week!

Dave Mowberry in Birches who fished 18 wraps towards Billys, with 2 rods on the bottom and one on a zig roaming around. After losing a fish at the net on the zig rod Dave then went on and landed Cyril at 47lb 8oz on a black foam 13ft zig. It went quiet for Dave throughout the week as the fishw ere spawning for a few days, when they came back on the feed he landed a 25lb mirror last knockings on Saturday morning!

Keith Greener got himself into Beach and had 5 fish for the week up to 37lb fishing 21 wraps towards the bund 2 rods on SSM and one with a 10 ft black zig, spombing Link mixed with maize and hemp most of Keiths fish for the week came on the 10ft black on black zig!

James in Bachelliers stuck it out for the week and kept to his spots fishing at 25 wraps towards the corner and nicked one last knockings a 38lb 8oz common known as Barrows! Kept your head and saved the blank mate well done!

24 fish for the week up to 47lb 8oz it fished well considering they were interested in other shenanigans for most of the week…We also had some lads from the Embryo team out on the lake doing some snag and margin clearance which has improved the fishing around the lake, obviously also with the fish spawning it was going to be a hard week but everybody kept their heads up and got on with it which was good to see!

Let’s see if they get right on the munch next week after a good spawn!

Until then,

Tight Lines,

Steve
