Week Commencing: Sat 21/05/2022

With the weather changing this week to some rain and a few heavy winds the fish haven’t managed to spawn yet. 12 anglers turned up who were all ready to go…..

Heading over to Decoy we had a very friendly lad called Nicolas Jones. 2 rods were fished at 14 wraps down towards the bund with his 3rd one being fished at 18warps towards The Cage. In the early hours of Monday he was into his first fish, a 39lb mirror which smashed his PB already….After a few quiet days he decided to put a 15ft zig out, this paid off as he landed 5 fish up to 40lb. The best was yet to come….. Friday morning came and so did another fish….. « Long Common » at 53lb which is now know as Nick’s new PB…. Well done mate!

In Tea Party 2, Brandon Anderson was setting his bivvy up for the week. He chose to fish open water as well as fishing towards the margin. Sunday morning he was playing his first fish, a nice Gigantica Road Lake stockie. The fish seemed to have moven down towards the other end of the lake as it was quiet until the early hours of saterday when something very special turned up…. « Korda Social Common » at 53lb which has smashed his PB… All the effort and hard work Brandon put in got paid off at the end!!!! Well done mate!

Toby knight decided to give Cage a go. This swim often gets over looked but at this time over year just before the fish are going to spawn it can be a very productive swim. Toby chose to fish 14 wraps straight out in front and to go heavy on the baiting front as he put 15kg out in his first evening. This definitely paid off as he had 5 bites the next morning with one of the best looking fish in the lake. “The Wedge” at
48lb 15oz. It took until Wednesday for his next bite, a 12lb stickie. With Turtles Corner being free he decided to have a move. Fishing all 3 rods at 21 wraps towards the dot Island. This paid off as he landed another 2 fish the next morning. Nice meeting you mate.

One swim down from Cage we had Philip Smith in Dunkerque. 2 rods went out at 18 wraps with his 3rd one being fished at 14wraps towards Brambles. It didn’t take long for the fish to find his hook bait as he managed to land a 20lb common just after dinner. In the early hours of Wednesday he managed to slip the net under 2 stockies, the biggest one being 22lb. Unfortunately this was his last action for the week. See you next time mate.

Over in Billy’s we had James Harewood. All 3 rods were fished at 21 wraps straight out in front. It took a couple of days for the fish to turn up. Monday morning saw him into his first fish, a 21lb 4oz mirror. After dinner he was in again, this time with a 25lb 8oz common. Tuesday morning saw another 2 fish being land with a 34lb 6oz mirror being the biggest. Wednesday was quiet but on Thursday he picked 3 fish up again. Unfortunately none of the bigguns turned up this week for James but I’m sure they will next time. Nice meeting you mate.

Last but by no means least we had Nathan Hassan in the famous New Beach. It was clear on the walk round that there were loads of fish in this swim so he couldn’t wait to get started. All 3 rods went out at 21 wraps towards the bund. Some how it just didn’t want to happen for Nathan. So mid-week after a quick chat to the bailif he decided to put a 15ft zig out. Before he even managed to put the rod on the alarm he was into a fish. This kept on going with him landing 19 fish in total, smashing his PB 9 times!!! A quick tactical change, changed the whole week for him. Well done pal!!

The fish are definitely starting to group up for their sexy time. The lads put the effort in and we’re still rewarded with some nice fish. Well done lads.

Tight Lines,
