Full Moon and A monster Common…

With some hot weather forecast it was time to dig the factor 50 out, but with full moon on the horizon anything was possible! 9 anglers on this week and they were all itching to get stuck in!

I shall start the story off with Danny Bunce who came out high in the draw and jumped at the chance to fish Turtles Corner for the week, whilst setting up he got the ball rolling after casting a solid bag to a show and the rest as they say was history... after a quick chat with me about spots and bait, I informed Danny that he would not be able to put enough bait in to keep the bites coming! So, from Sunday morning onwards Danny was introducing 40 spombs of whole, chopped and crumbed Mainline Cell and Link boilies, pellet and corn with a healthy dose of fish and cell smart liquid per day and also topping up with 15-20 spombs of the same mix after each fish he caught which totalled to 75kg of bait for the week!! After losing a few fish early on Danny switched over to size 4 Klors and the hookholds were much better! Fishing all 3 rods on Spinner rigs with double fake yellow corn as a hook bait he concentrated all 3 rods tight to the dot island at 21 wraps! Most of Dannys takes were whilst he was spombing, the fish were really reacting to the bait! He genuinely couldn’t get it in quick enough! By Thursday morning he had landed 23 fish…including 3 40lbers and the second biggest common in the lake “The Jackal” at a P.B obliterating 57lb 8oz! This was part of a 100lb brace for Danny which really sealed the trip for him….Thursday morning Danny moved out and let his Dad drop in the peg for the last couple of nights! Top man and top angling mate, well done!!

Road Lake regular Chris up next and after coming out 4th in the draw he decided to drop back into an old haunt Shingles that he has fished a couple of times previously. Chris started off fishing all 3 rods at 18 wraps towards the dot island baiting heavily with Asylum baits R1 whole and crumbed boilies. After having a few fish on this spot he felt a change was required to get amongst the bigger fish. Dropping back to 16 wraps really did the trick! Chris went on to land 6 40lbers including “Le Flair” at 45, “The Traveller” at 46lb 8oz and “Lottchen” at 43lb 4oz!! This mega session was topped off by “2 Scale” at a huge 56lb!! Mega result…Chris fished simple knotless knots with straight out the bag match the hatch bottom baits and used 50kg of boilie for the week! The boilie only approach really does seem to get those bigguns feeding confidently on the spot! Good angling mate see you later on in the year!

Next up we have the Father and Son Danish DUO Lasse and Kim Christiansen …. Lasse fished in Brambles for the week and adopted a similar approach to Chris by using mainly Boilie, DT Baits N Blend, Peach and sour cream was the bait of choice and Lasse bulked it out a bit with 10kg of Gigantica particle mix…Using IQD rigs with size 4 Kurve Shank B and one on a Spinner with size 4 Kamakura Krank fishing at 18 wraps straight out infront with a 5m gap between the 3 rods, Lasse used 50kg of boilie for the week, he didn’t have lots of fish but the fish he did catch were all bigguns…”The Decoy” at 49lb 12oz, “Eddy” at 47lb and “Swaleys Mirror” being the biggest of the week at just over the 50ln mark! Well in mate….

…Kim dropped into Birches next to Lasse and fished all 3 rods straight out at 18 wraps. Feeding 30kg of Vital boilies Nutty Crunch and 10kg of Gigantica mixed particle. Fishing a bottom bait with a yellow topper snowman style, Kim managed to land “The Decoy” at 49lb 12oz!! Another session showing that these bigger carp are boilie munching machines! Thanks for your visit guys and looking forward to seeing you again soon!

Matt Goold came out mid draw and was surprised Tea Party 2 was still available so didn’t hesitate to set his stall in there for the week! Fishing at 18 wraps across to the margin he baited with 25kg of DNA Switch and 25 kg of House maize for the week, fishing spinner rigs with DNA milky malts for hookbaits…Matt didn’t get amongst any of the real bigguns but finished the week on 5 carp landed with a couple of cool scaley 30lbers thrown into the mix!! Lovely times

Dean Bunce dropped into Beach for the week and didn’t take long to get into the fish landing “Kulture Klub” at a whopping 44lb! Fishing at 21 wraps towards the bund using a combi rig with a link wafter tipped with yellow corn, Dean baited with Mainline Link and Gigantica house particle mix. The action went quiet in Beach for Dean and he heard fish showing in Dunkerque so made a swift move next door but this was to no avail. Dean moved into Turtles on the last day and had a 35lb common and then smashed his P.B again with “Snooki” at 45lb 12oz! Well done on smashing your P.B twice mate!

Paul Bunce started his week off in Decoy and after having a stockie on his first night decided to make the move into T1 on Wednesday. With it still fishing slow his boy Danny offered Turtles to him for the last 2 nights and Paul took the offer with open arms! Paul moved into Turtles and fished identically to Danny landing 2 mid 30 commons in the process which means Paul and his two boys Danny and Dean all smashed their P.Bs!! Happy Days!

I dropped into Bachelliers for full moon night after prebaiting the swim for a couple of days and had 7 bites landing 5 carp to mid 30’s, fishing all 3 rods on spinners at 30 wraps into the corner I was baiting with 10mm Fishmeal, house pellet and maize, fishing 12mm wafters over the top. Was a busy night and definitely a quick in and out overnighter!!

With over 50 carp this week it was a successful one to say the least! New and old faces combined and will be returning in the near future! The weather forecast is due to be overcast and a lot cooler next week which might delay the yearly sexy time for a little while, but we shall see!

Until then,

Tight Lines,

Steve
