Bailiff Comments

Week Commencing: Sat 30/04/2022

Smashed it!!!!

The weather was looking good, the fish were very active and loads of bait was in the freezer ready for the week ahead. Let’s go….

In the famous Turtles Corner we had Chris Guy set up for the 7 days ahead. After a quick chat with the bailiff he decided to fishing all 3 rods at 22 wraps towards the dot Island. To keep the disturbance to a minimum he chose to bait up from the margin, introducing boilie, hemp and maize. Before I even managed to deliver his dinner he had smashed his PB already with a 40lb mirror, not a bad way to start…. Two hours later and he smashed his PB again (yes again!!!!!) this time with “Samo’s” at 46lb 12oz… The perfect start to the week! In the early hours of Sunday he’s rod ripped off with “LouLou” at 41lb. 3 forties in the first 24 hours… After dinner I received a phone call with him saying “I’ve got a biggun in the net”. We weighed it and she went 59lb 12oz, a fish known as “2 Scale”. Smashed his PB again…. Chris kept on catching steadily all week long. He used loads of bait, ordering 10k of maize and 5k of hemp every day. He went through loads of boilies. Using so much bait definitely kept the fish in his area. Chris ended the week on 42 fish. Good angling mate!!!

On the opposite side in Tea Party 1 we had Tom Cox. 3 rods went out at 21 wraps towards Turtles Corner. Over a big bed of bait (boilie, maize and hemp) he decided to fish spinner rigs with wafters. Sunday morning saw him land two 20 pounders and “Andromeda” at 38lb 4oz. Good Start! Same as in Turtles Tom went heavy on the bait, this kept the fish coming. The best was yet to come when on Tuesday he managed to land one of the best commons in the lake “The Jackal” at 56lb 4oz which now is known as his new PB…. In the early hours of Wednesday he managed to land three 40s. “Not All About The Hat” at 40lb, “Rene’s” at 42lb 8oz and “Norfolk Common” at 41lb 12oz…. But it wasn’t over yet…. On his last evening he managed to land one more fish and what a fish it was….  “Fully Loaded” at 46lb 8oz….. What a week he had…. Awesome mate!!!!

One swim down from Tea Party 1 saw Jamie Stamper in Tea Party 2. Fishing the margin in this often produces the smaller fish so Jamie decided to put all 3 rods at 16 wraps towards the tall tree. Sticky Krill boilies mixed with maize and hemp were spombed over the top.  Sunday came and so did 9 fish, the biggest being 39lb 12oz. It was looking good for the days ahead! The next day he landed another 8 fish, this time there were two 40s. 43lb 12oz and a 44lb 4oz mirror. He kept introducing bait and the fish kept on coming. Jamie caught every day, ending his session on 39 fish.

Very good angling mate!!!

Heading over to Shingles we had one of the regulars Ian Ockwell. Seeing how turtles was doing he wisely chose to fish all 3 rods at 18 wraps towards the dot island. Boilies mixed with maize were spombed over wafters on all 3 rods. Sunday morning saw him land 3 fish, the biggest one being “Stubby” at 53lb. Monday came and so did “Ringo” at 41lb. In the early hours of Tuesday he slipped the net under “The Honeymooner at 26lb. Ian caught steadily all week long ending on 7 fish.

It was an awesome week with a nice bunch of lads. The fish are definitely starting to feed on the boilies. Let’s hope it keeps on going…..

Tight Lines,
