Week Commencing: Sat 08/10/2016

As we are coming towards the end of yet another Road Lake season and with the lake being in such a rich vein of form, amazingly we have only had a handful of anglers on over the last couple of weeks, but the lads who have been out have managed some amazing fish with one angler managing over 30 fish in a week!!

The weather has been what you would expect from a typical autumn week, with sunny days and highs of around 14 degrees but with chilly nights as temperatures struggled to get above 6 degrees.  The wind direction for the week was predominately blowing from the east.  Again leaving it feel rather chilly at times.  The water temperature is dropping and now is around 14 degrees, but that hasn’t stopped some of the Road Lake residence putting in an appearance.

The first week we had regular angler Lee white who opted to fish in Tea Party 2. Lee who is battling a long-term illness has always had a life long ambition of catching a 30lb carp and after an eventful week on Gigantica’s Main Lake earlier on in the year he decided to return and try his luck on the Road Lake.  What a trip it turned out to be for Lee, his life long ambition of a 30lb carp was achieved in true style!  The amazing Chizzlewit at 46lb set himself a new PB and to say he was happy was a true understatement!  Lee fished at 18 wraps and baited with Mainline Cell boilies and fished a Banoffee wafter soaked in Pineapple Goo on an IQ D Rig.  He also went on to land a further four fish up to 25lb 12oz's leaving him a happy chap indeed.

Sven was fishing over in The Beach and also managed a new PB for the week in the shape of a 35lb common, called Goldie.  Sven fished at 7 wraps towards Decoy and baited with Mainline Cell boilies and fished a Banoffee wafter hookbait on a Korda ready tied KD rig.

Craig Rollings fished in Tea Party 1 and for the week Craig managed an amazing total of 31 fish.  Included in this impressive haul he managed 4 x 40’s and 9 x 30’s, with the best being a 46lb common.  With this he also had a common of 42lb 4oz along with Mirrors of 44lb 4oz, 41lb 15oz, 40lb 15oz and 43lb 7oz.  An amazing haul of fish and a very good angling display also.  Craig fished all three rods at 21 wraps and baited up with Mainline Cell boilies.  Hookbait wise the ever-faithful Banoffee wafters doing the business for Craig.

Given the lack of anglers on over the last couple of weeks this in turn creates a problem, as there is so much free water for the fish to move into we find that both of our lakes fish better when they are full and this helps keep the fishing moving and therefore more get caught.
